awyer Effendi Sinaga said there were not any witnesses to prove Jessica Kumala Wongso was guilty of premeditated murder of Wayan Mirna Salihin on Jan. 6 at Olivier Cafe, Grand Indonesia.
While reading the defense, he pointed out that none of the witnesses said that Jessica had a problem with Wayan Mirna Salihin. Even Mirna's husband, Arief Soemarko, said Mirna had offended Jessica only once by advising her to break up with her ex-boyfriend, Patrick O'Connor, but this did not lead to a fight or any ill will between Jessica and Mirna.
Effendi said no one saw Jessica put cyanide in Mirna's drink.
"None of the witnesses said that Jessica poured cyanide in Mirna's Vietnamese coffee," he said.
Effendi said that closed-circuit television (CCTV) could not be used in this case. However, should the court decide to consider it, there is no footage showing that Jessica poisoned Mirna.
"The footage doesn't show Jessica putting poison in the glass," he said.
Another one of Jessica's lawyers, Otto Hasibuan, said that there were no fingerprints from Jessica on Mirna's glass, indicating that Jessica never touched Mirna's glass. (evi)
