akarta deputy governor candidate Sandiaga Uno has said that if he is elected in the upcoming gubernatorial election, he will donate his salary and allowances to charitable organizations such as Dompet Dhuafa and Rumah Zakat.
Sandiaga, a businessman and Gerindra Party politician, said his savings were enough to support his family.
"If I'm elected deputy governor, my income from the city administration will be donated to orphans and those less fortunate," Sandi said in Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, on Tuesday.
He also that he did not mind spending billions of rupiah to support his campaign with running mate Anies Baswedan.
Sandiaga revealed previously that he had spent Rp 29.3 billion (US$2.25 million) in 10 months to introduce himself to Jakarta voters.
"For me, it [the salary and allowances] is not important because Allah has been so good to me. I feel that I haven't contributed much to Jakarta," he said. (bbn)
