T

he Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama has high expectations for appointed acting governor Soni Sumarsono to handle the deliberations of the 2017 city budget (APBD) during Ahok’s campaign leave.

"We hope the city budget will be completed on time," Ahok said after the handover ceremony at the Home Affairs Ministry on Wednesday.

Soni also needs to continue the city's program to give financial assistance to Bekasi, West Java, as the capital has made several agreements with the neighboring city, such as the management of city waste in Bantar Gebang Integrated Waste Treatment Area, Ahok added.

The governor also suggested Soni to be considerate of the benefit and disadvantages in budget allocation in drafting the 2017 City Budget Priorities and the Provisional Budget Platform (KUA-PPAS).

Ahok also pushed the regional autonomy director general to focus on public transparency, such as uploading meeting results to the city administration's Youtube channel. Ahok claims that he has been uploading meeting results to the internet so citizens could be well informed

He warned that he would check permits issued under Soni when he returns from his campaign leave.

The Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo has officially appointed Soni as acting Jakarta Governor on Wednesday. Ahok and Deputy Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat will take their leave from Oct. 28 to Feb. 11 in order to participate in the 2017 Jakarta gubernatorial election, as required by the Regional Elections Law.

Meanwhile, Soni expressed his readiness for the job.

"Our goals are to continue the programs planned by Ahok and Djarot," he said. (rin)
