he Bogor Police have arrested three police officers and two civilians in Bogor, West Java, as part of an extortion case, Bogor Police chief Sr. Comr. Yusri said on Wednesday.
On Monday, the five reportedly approached three people at Bubulak Terminal in Bogor and accused them of being drug dealers. They were forced to get in a car, which took them around the city. The suspects also forced them to give up their belongings, said Yusri.
“The policemen and their two companions then phoned family members of the three and told them to pay Rp 15 million [US$1,149] or else they would be taken into custody,” he said as quoted by tribunnews.com.
The police officers, who are all low-ranking, have been taken to the West Java Police headquarters for internal investigation, which could result in them being fired.
