S

inger and Composer Ahmad Dhani, who has been reported to the Jakarta Police over an alleged insult to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, has planned to fight back by reporting his lawsuit-filers to the police for allegedly providing fake evidence.

“Yes, [I will report them],” Dhani, who is also Bekasi deputy regent candidate, said on Monday.

Dhani claimed the report against him, which was filed by representatives of a group called Jokowi’s People Soldiers (LRJ) on Sunday, was based on a video, which had been intentionally doctored by a certain party to downgrade his image while giving a speech during a massive protest on Friday.

The protest held in front of the Presidential Palace turned violent with two police cars set on fire.

In the video, that is now available on Youtube, Dhani was heard saying: “I want to say 'dog', but [I am] not allowed. I want to say 'pig’, but [I am] not allowed. The ulemas are the successors of the Prophet Muhammad, [the ulemas are] sitting here but are not welcome by the President.”

Meanwhile, responding to Dhani’s plan to fight back, LRJ chairman Riano Oscha said he welcomed the planned move, saying that he was sure the video was real and had not been doctored.

“We are going to prove [the evidence] in court,” Riano said. (jun)
