"[I came here] to talk about the supervision of mining permit issuance with KPK prevention division officials," Longki said in Jakarta.
Longki said his visit to the KPK aimed to prevent potential corruption in the issuance of seven mining permits in the province.
"All related parties will be invited to discuss the matter later on," he said, without revealing any dates.
In October, members of House of Representatives Commission VII overseeing energy affairs demanded that the antigraft body strengthen its monitoring of the issuance of mining permits in response to the recent disclosure of a bribery case involving Longki's counterpart in Southeast Sulawesi.
Southeast Sulawesi Governor Nur Alam has been accused of issuing dubious mining licenses for personal gain. He allegedly issued a permit for a mining concession in a protected forest area.
Mining operations in the area could reportedly cost up to Rp 3.5 trillion (US$259.45 million) in environmental losses, including the loss of local people’s source of drinking water. (fac/dan)
