he campaign team for Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama and Deputy Jakarta Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat announced on Wednesday that as of Dec. 19, it had collected Rp 48 billion (US$3.56 million) in campaign funds from public donations nationwide.

“We have received Rp 18.5 billion from individuals, Rp 4.7 billion from private companies and Rp 200 million from political parties that endorsed Ahok,” the team’s treasurer Charles Honoris said in a press conference on Jl. Borobudur, Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday.

He further said that the donations did not only come from entities domiciled in Jakarta, but also from those living in other regions such as Kalimantan and Papua.

Charles revealed that the team had also received Rp 24 billion from several people who had not yet completed their donation requirements, including copies of their resident identity cards and taxpayer number cards.

“We hope these people who have donated money for Ahok and Djarot can immediately complete their data, otherwise their donations will be granted to the state," Charles said. He referred to a regulation that states that any donations given without the complete identity of the donors should be granted to the state treasury.

Charles further said the team had spent Rp 5.9 billion from total received donations, comprising Rp 3.6 billion for operational costs, Rp 280 million for administration costs, Rp 160 million for campaign post operational costs and Rp 1.9 billion for consultant service fees.

The campaign team submitted its campaign funding report to the Jakarta General Elections Commission on Tuesday, he further said. (ebf)
