T

he Transportation Ministry has revised up its non-tax state revenue (PNBP) target this year to a figure 20 percent higher than the initial target of Rp 10.6 trillion.

"I think I tend to see that it will increase because there are a lot of activities from which we can collect non-tax state revenue," Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said on Wednesday evening.

Activities that contribute to non-tax state revenue include reclamation for port projects. "We haven't charged anything from the activities so far," he said.

The ministry will focus on the growth of sea transportation to support President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo’s maritime vision.

Previously, transportation business players, including those from the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) and Indonesian Logistics Association (ALI), called for a revision of the tariffs imposed on non-tax state revenue.

They called on the government to include the revision in the next economic package to increase logistics efficiency and competitiveness. (bbn)
