View all search resultsParking fines in Jakarta reached Rp 1.82 billion (US$136,441) from Jan. 3 to Feb. 24 alone, an official has said.
The Jakarta Transportation Agency towed away 3,481 vehicles that had parked illegally during that time, said the agency's operational control division head, Maruli Tua Sijabat.
"A lot of drivers do not comply with parking regulations," Maruli said as quoted by beritajakarta.com over the weekend.
During the same period, he added, officials ticketed 6,437 vehicle owners, revoked the permits of 1,574 vehicles and deflated the tires of 6,029 vehicles.
"Ticketing for illegal parking will be intensified because illegal parking causes traffic jams," he added. (agn)
