Vehicles are once again passing along the route less than 24 hours after a 75-meter stretch of road collapsed on Monday.
"We have opened one route and the vehicles coming in opposite directions must take turns to pass through," West Java Police spokesman Sr. Cmr. Yusri Yunus said on Tuesday.
Agus Budiyanto from the Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation Center said there were several factors that had contributed to the incident.
The road is located in a hilly area that is close to a river.
"The road in this area is included in the middle-high zone of potential soil movement, which means if rainfall is above normal intensity, there is the potential for active soil movement," he said.
It is not the first time the road has collapsed, Agus said, noting that the same thing had happened in October last year. (rin)
