Drugs found during Manggarai sweep

The Jakarta Police confiscated drugs during a sweep to prevent brawls from reoccurring in Manggarai, South Jakarta, and Tambak, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday.

he Jakarta Police confiscated drugs during a sweep to prevent brawls from reoccurring in Manggarai, South Jakarta, and Tambak, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday.

The police found teenagers consuming crystal methamphetamine, but the teenagers escaped by jumping into nearby river.

Jakarta Police criminal unit deputy chief Adj. Comr. Didik Sugiarto said the police confiscated some tools used to consume the drugs. “The discovery of the drugs will become our starting point to delve into investigations of narcotics abuse,” Didik said as quoted by wartakota.tribunnews.com.

More than 1,000 officers who conducted the sweep also found various weapons allegedly used for the brawls.  

The brawls on March 5 and March 6 claimed two teenagers’ lives. (dea)
