A

clash between drivers of angkot (public minivans) and ride-hailing ojek (motorcycle taxi) app drivers broke out at Laladon public transportation terminal in Bogor Regency, West Java, on Wednesday evening.

The clash started when a large mob of ojek drivers marched towards the Bogor City Hall to stage a protest.

“So these ojek drivers wanted to go to City Hall to meet the Bogor Mayor. As they passed the terminal, stones were thrown at them by angkot drivers, who might think that the ojek drivers wanted to attack them,” Dramaga Police chief Adj. Comr. Budi Santoso said as quoted by TribunnewsBogor.com.

The attack triggered a brawl between thousands of ojek drivers and angkot drivers.

“We wanted to meet the mayor because this afternoon we received news that one of us was attacked by minivan drivers. But we were intercepted and stones were thrown at us at the Laladon terminal,” said Anwar, a 35-year-old ojek driver.

While the clash left no casualties, two minivans were damaged.

“There was no casualties. Only two minivans were destroyed because of stones and blocks thrown at them,” Budi said.
