The Bekasi Police have uncovered on Monday an operation that produces bootleg liquor in South Bekasi, West Java.
The police raided the two houses that had allegedly been turned into places to produce and distribute bootleg liquor on Jl. Raya Pekayon in South Bekasi.
The police had been watching the houses for three weeks.
"In handling the case, we indeed faced a difficulty. When there were unknown buyers, they would not serve them. They only served regular buyers," Bekasi Police deputy chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Wijonarko said on Wednesday as quoted by wartakota.tribunnews.com.
During the raid, the police confiscated a total of 3,702 bottles of bootleg liquor, as well as equipment to produce and pack the alcohol.
They also arrested two suspects, identified only as BJG, 60, and HRM, 43.
Police claim the suspects told them that they had been running the business for three months.
Wijonarko said the police would further investigate the case to confirm their statements. (agn)
