S

tate-owned toll road operator PT Jasa Marga has said that repairs of the damaged Cisomang Bridge on the Bandung-Jakarta toll road would be finished by March 31 as scheduled.

Jasa Marga vice president for maintenance Reza Febriano said Monday that the project was 90 percent complete and on track to meet its completion target.

"It will be finished by the end of the month," Reza said.

There will be a barrier connecting the pillars under the bridge by the end of the month, he added.

Jasa Marga has also assured the public that there will no soil movement on the bridge after repairs are completed.

After the repairs, trucks will be allowed to cross the 253-meter bridge on the busy Cipularang or Purbaleunyi toll road again, Reza further said.

In late last December, the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry prohibited trucks from crossing the bridge after one of the six pillars supporting the bridge shifted slightly.

At present, only smaller vehicles such as vans and sedans are allowed to use the bridge.

After the initial phase of the repairs concludes on March 31, Jasa Marga will continue other repairs on the bridge to enhance safety, including by managing water drainage for the Cisomang River. (lnd)
