o revive public confidence in the company, national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia has appointed the head of its aircraft maintenance arm, GMF AeroAsia, Juliandra Nurtjahjo, as the new president director of low-cost subsidiary Citilink.
Juliandra replaces Albert Burhan, who resigned at the end of last year after an incident in which a Citilink pilot was suspected of being inebriated in the cockpit just before departure.

The appointment of Juliandra is primarily based on his proven safety management and marketing skills during his tenure at GMF, which spans 15 years, according to Garuda’s statement on Friday.
GMF’s net income rose significantly by 59.6 to US$57.7 million last year from 2015.
"Citilink’s position needs to be seen as part of Garuda Indonesia group’s comprehensive strategy with a focus on maintaining the company’s edge amid competition in the LCC [low-cost carrier] market," Garuda Indonesia president director Arif Wibowo said in the statement.
Faced with tighter competition in the domestic market, Citilink suffered from $9.7 million losses in 2016, reversing a $3.5 million profit a year earlier.
On the same day, Citilink also welcomed two new members to its board of directors, namely chief pilot Arry Kalzaman Sudarmadji as its operational director and Andy Adrian, who previously worked at budget carrier AirAsia, as its commercial director. (lnd)
