T Prudential Life Assurance (Prudential Indonesia) has generated total premium income of about Rp 26.5 trillion (US$1.99 billion) from 3.4 million active customers in 2016, according to unaudited financial results.
The figure is slightly higher than the previous year’s Rp 26.02 trillion, while total claims rose by 8.1 percent to Rp 9.9 trillion from Rp 9.1 trillion in 2015.
The company’s premium income in 2016 accounted for 16 percent of the total premium income of the country’s life insurance industry, the company’s chief investment officer, John Oehmke, said in Jakarta on Monday.
He did not disclose the net profit, arguing that it was being audited. In 2015, the company booked Rp 5.44 trillion in after-tax profits.
The company’s total asset under management rose by 20.5 percent to Rp 54.5 trillion in 2016, while its income from investment reached Rp 5.2 trillion in the same year.
Company president director Jens Reisch said the growing awareness about the importance of life insurance in society made him confident about the industry’s prospects.
“We will continue to make product innovation, one of which was launched in February: PRUprime Healthcare,” he said during a press briefing in Jakarta on Monday. (ecn/bbn)
