Apartment living has become a popular option for Jakartans who spend most of their time working in the middle of the concrete jungle.

Those finding it difficult to bear the city’s traffic and long commutes may opt for living in a high-rise apartment in a strategic location. Meanwhile, those with extra money may consider buying one for investment or to be leased.

When it comes to making decisions on buying an apartment for investment or living, Ibnu Tadji is the right man to ask for suggestions.

The chairman of the Indonesian Association of Apartment Unit Owners (Aperssi) is aware of various conflicts between apartment tenants and building managements.

“When you want to buy an apartment to live in, the first thing you want to ensure is safety,” he said.

When it comes to gadgets, however, Ibnu simply chooses gadgets that serve all his needs.

Alcatel One Touch

My mobile phone is just an ordinary gadget, which I have been using for two years. When it was first launched, I immediately bought it after browsing its features and reading some reviews. This mobile phone has much better picture resolution than my old mobile phone. Its camera is very good and it comes with a lot of editing features that can enhance picture quality.

A mobile phone’s camera is an important feature for me. I often take pictures when I go out, so this mobile phone suits me well. Other features like the Android operating system are just standard.

iPad

I take this tablet along when I travel or just go out with my family. I like reading on this gadget. I have downloaded numerous books and legal files on it and since one of my duties is related to apartments, I need to memorize many regulations, so I can give an answer whenever I get a question. I have done quite a lot of research on laws, so I like to reread the files over and over again.

Apps

This Quran app is important to me. This app keeps me company when I accompany my wife on a shopping trip. There are a lot of verses and translations, so it is very useful. Sometimes there are some advertisements, but its fine.

Another app I find useful is Grab. I like ordering a car when I know it’ll be hard to find parking wherever I plan on going. Take City Hall as an example. It is difficult to find a parking spot there, so I prefer using a ride-hailing service and getting dropped in front of the building. If the place has a convenient parking lot, I choose to drive by myself because driving will help us harness our instincts — according to a book. I also use Go-Jek’s Go Food to order food. When my wife is busy and we have guests, we like to just order food online.
