ingapore-based low-cost carrier Scoot received on Thursday the handover of its 14th Boeing 787 Dreamliner airplane at Boeing Everett Delivery Center in Seattle, the United States, aiming to expand its long-haul services business.
Scoot currently serves 23 destinations in nine countries in the Asia Pacific region, including Australia, Japan and Thailand.
It announced recently a new route flying between Singapore and Athens, which is expected to serve passengers four times a week starting June 20 using the latest aircraft.

"We think that there is potential [in the route] as many people want to visit Greece as well as people in Europe who want to visit Asia. This is an under-served market," Budget Aviation Holdings (BAH) chief executive officer Lee Lik Hsin told The Jakarta Post on Thursday.
BAH is fully owned by Singapore Airlines Group and is managing Scoot as well as low-cost short-haul carrier Tigerair.
Another long-haul route, details of which are still undisclosed, is expected to be announced later this year.
"The 787 Dreamliner [...] enables Scoot to be a game changer in the low-cost carrier industry and profitably open new non-stop routes, such as Singapore to Athens," Boeing commercial airplanes senior vice president for commercial airplanes Asia Pacific and India sales Dinesh Keskar stated. (hwa)
