ank Indonesia has said its IT system is secure against the WannaCry ransomware that reportedly has attacked computers in many countries, including Indonesia.
The central bank’s spokesman, Tirta Segara, said his institution had taken a series of steps to safeguard its information technology systems against virus attacks.
“We have updated our antivirus system to the newest system released by Windows. We have installed antivirus software on the computers of all BI branch offices,” said Tirta on Monday, as reported by kompas.com, adding that its virus-blocking system worked well.
He said his institution also had no reports about problems from users of the Bank Indonesia Real Time Gross Settlement (BI RTGS) and Bank Indonesia National Clearing (SKNBI) systems.
“No individual RTGS or clearing system member has reported any attack to their systems,” Tirta added.
The WannaCry virus, a growing category of heinous malware, has reportedly continued to spread since its discovery on Friday afternoon, impacting more than 10,000 organizations and 200,000 individuals in more than 150 countries. (bbn)
