The North Kalimantan and East Kalimantan Police are turning to technology to help tackle a pressing personnel shortage.
The force currently has 10,000 personnel, but needs at least 16,000 to monitor 14 regencies, said North Kalimantan and East Kalimantan Police chief Insp. Gen. Saparudin.
However, “adding more personnel would require a large budget,” Saparuddin said on Tuesday as quoted by antaranews.com.
He added that the National Police have ordered against taking on new recruits do to current budget constraints.
To make up for the lack of personnel, Saparudding said, the North Kalimantan and East Kalimantan Police will boost training in various forms of technology for its existing officers. (hol/rin)
