on-active Jakarta governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama turns 51 on June 29 and his supporters plan to flood the Mobile Brigade Command detention center (Mako Brimob) in Kelapa Dua, Depok, West Java where he is being detained, with birthday cards.

Instagram account @basuki_btp_lovers, which is dedicated to Ahok’s fans and supporters, encouraged its followers to send him postcards. The account wrote, “To those who love Pak @basukibtp… on Thursday, June 29 Pak Ahok will celebrate his 51st birthday.”

The account encouraged Ahok’s supporters to mail the cards via the postal service and urged people to refrain from including messages that contained provocative statements against ethnicity, religion and race (SARA).

Ahok is being detained at the Mako Brimob after being sentenced to two years in prison for blasphemy. While being detained, Ahok has been reading the Bible, replying to letters from supporters and practicing Chinese martial arts. (wnd/dmr)
