he State Palace will hold a series of events to commemorate the Nuzulul Quran (the revelation of the Quran) during Ramadhan this year starting on Monday.
The events will start at 11 a.m. on Monday when there will be Quran Recital Competitions (MTQ) in the State Palace, joined by children from several orphanages in Greater Jakarta, according to a press statement sent by the President’s Press Bureau.
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo is also scheduled to meet with Islamic figures and with participants of national and international Quran reading competitions in the palace. He will also witness the award ceremony for the MTQ winner by the state secretary in the afternoon.
After the iftar (breaking of the fast meal), the children and representatives of several Islamic boarding schools will join a parade to Baiturrahim Mosque in the palace compound to perform Isha and Tarawih (evening Ramadhan prayers).
Afterwards, the president will attend the Nuzulul Quran commemoration at the State Palace in the evening.
