Five ignore railway barrier, four killed

Four people died and one was severely injured when they were hit by a freight train traveling from Semarang, Central Java, to Jakarta after they ignored a closed barrier at a level crossing in Tegorejo village, Pegandon district , Kendal regency in the early hours on Friday.

our people died and one was severely injured when they were hit by a freight train traveling from Semarang, Central Java, to Jakarta after they ignored a closed barrier at a level crossing in Tegorejo village, Pegandon district, Kendal regency in the early hours on Friday.

The incident took place at 1:40 a.m. when two motorcycles passed through the closed crossing gate, said Adj. Comr. Edy Sutrisno, the head of Kendal Police’s traffic unit.

The police are still collecting information about the victims and from witnesses. All five victims were taken to the Kendal Hospital.

There are 489 level railway crossings in PT Kereta Api Indonesia’s Semarang operational region, but crossing guards have only been assigned to 114 of them.
