inety regencies across 25 provinces have requested their inclusion on the government's single fuel price program, in addition to the 150 remote regencies that have already been targeted to receive the program by 2019.

"The regencies' governments have submitted their proposals, and we will evaluate which regions will be included in the road map," said IGN Wiratmaja Puja, the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry's oil and gas director, as quoted by kontan.co.id.

Under the program, the government will establish fuel distribution agencies in the targeted regencies. So far, 54 agencies have been established.

Wiratmaja said it was still possible to include more regencies on the program, but his office could not immediately put the 90 regencies on the list of program regions, as he had to discuss the matter with the program's supporting institutions, including the Indonesian Military and the National Police.

The military and the police were involved to ensure the safe distribution of fuel, he explained.

The targeted regions of the program will charge the same price for fuel, set at Rp 6,450 (48 US cents) per liter for the subsidized Premium gasoline and Rp 5,150 per liter for the subsidized Solar diesel fuel.

Without the single-price policy, the price for Premium in remote areas could range from Rp 8,000 to Rp 15,000 per liter, while the Solar price fluctuated between Rp 7,000 and Rp 18,000 per liter. (rdi/bbn)
