View all search resultshe police in Tebet, South Jakarta, have arrested a man for allegedly stealing a substation battery belonging to state-owned telecommunications company PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom).
The police said the suspect, identified only AS, 26, and an accomplice, identified only as D, committed the crime late on Tuesday evening at a Telkom substation on Jl. Tebet Utara Dalam IV.
However, one of the firm’s employees, Saipulloh, caught them red-handed and immediately gave chase.
“They were shouted at [by Saipulloh] and fled by motorcycle,” said Tebet Police chief Comr. Maulana on Wednesday.
Saipulloh caught AS, who fell from the motorcycle, and brought him to the Tebet Police.
From AS, the police seized the battery, two screwdrivers, an angle grinder and a motorcycle.
“We are still questioning him,” said Maulana, adding that the suspect was now in the custody of the Tebet Police.
