hese are some of the developments we're closely watching today:

  • The National Police are expected to announce a suspect in the premium rice scandal. The police have disclosed that executives from rice firm PT Indo Beras Unggul (IBU) would be named suspects in the case.
  • A West Kalimantan court is scheduled to deliver the verdict for 36-year old Fidelis Arie Sudewarto for growing marijuana to treat his wife's rare disease. Fidelis's wife, Yenni Riawati died one month after he was arrested in February 2017.
  • In Venezuela, protest leader Leopoldo Lopez and Caracas mayor Antonio Ledezma were sent back to prison by President Nicholas Maduro because they had violated the terms of their house arrest by making political statements.
