S

tate electricity company PLN has stated that it may cut power on a transmission tower on Jl. Yos Sudarso, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, in an attempt to force Agustinus Woro, who climbed it on Aug. 14, to descend the tower.

"We may cut the power because he [Agustinus] is carrying gasoline and has threatened to self-immolate up there," the spokeswoman of PLN western Java area, Arustie Utami, said as quoted by kompas.com on Thursday.

She said a PLN team had been on standby at the tower since Aug. 4 and they were ready to force Agustinus to come down.

However, the team was considering Agustinus' mental condition before attempting to do so, she said.

Meanwhile, North Jakarta Firefighting and Rescue Agency head Satriadi Gunawan said he was in communication with the police and PLN to find a way to bring Agustinus down.

Agustinus has conducted similar acts in the past.

In May, he climbed a 15-meter-high billboard in Setiabudi, South Jakarta, to hang a banner calling for the dissolution of political parties.

In February, he climbed another billboard in Slipi, West Jakarta, to hang four banners stating “Orphans are victims of crazy gambler army," “Adonara man shot dead,” “People, Densus 88, terrorists” and “Dismantle, close prisons”. (cal)
