Depok Forestry, Agriculture, Horticulture and Fisheries Agency (DKPPP) livestock division head Dede Zuraidah said the animals were too young, underweight, disabled or suffered minor illnesses.
“After checking the 6,448 livestock supply for Idul Adha at 70 stalls in Depok, it turned out that 194 were unfit to be sold and 143 animals suffered minor illness,” Dede explained as quoted by kompas.com
Out of 6,448 animals registered with the Depok DKPPP, 3,918 were cows; 1,965 were goats; 555 were sheep and 10 are buffalos, she added.
“This test on livestock before Idul Adha is done to secure the people’s safety […] ahead of qurban [day of sacrifice],” Dede said. (syl)
