talian motorcycling ace Valentino Rossi, who suffered a double leg fracture just 21 days ago, will return to action at this weekend's Aragon Grand Prix in Spain, his team confirmed Thursday.
The Yamaha MotoGP team said they would start round 14 of the world championship "with their original rider line-up".
"This afternoon Valentino Rossi successfully completed a mandatory medical examination carried out by MotorLand Aragon's Chief Medical Officer, Clemente Millan," the team said in a statement.
"He declared that the nine-time World Champion is fit to ride, 21 days after sustaining a leg injury. The Italian will take part in the FP1 session tomorrow."
Rossi, 38, underwent surgery on September 1, a day after a crash in training, discharging himself from hospital the following day.
He completed 20 laps around the Misano circuit on Tuesday before heading to Aragon for further tests.
Rossi missed the San Marino Grand Prix because of the leg break, but remains fourth in the standings, 42 points behind world champion Marc Marquez of Spain and Italy's Andrea Dovizioso with five rounds to go.
Rossi won the Dutch MotoGP in Assen in June to reignite his dream of a 10th world title with the final race of the season finishing on November 12 in Valencia.
