The Bogor-Muara Angke train line was evacuated at 1 p.m. on Tuesday after it derailed earlier in the day.

Rail services to Tanah Abang in Central Jakarta will likely be disrupted because the track had to be closed temporarily.

The derailment occurred at around 7:40 a.m. at Manggarai Station in Central Jakarta due to an error in the signaling system.

“So, it is quite possible that the [situation] will remain crowded as the track to Tanah Abang is closed because the rail line is not usable at present,” state-owned commuter line operator Kereta Commuter Indonesia KCI infrastructure and transportation director Bambang Hartono said on Tuesday.

He said it was likely that there would be long queues at several stations such as Jatinegara in East Jakarta, Tebet in South Jakarta and Sudirman and Cikini in Central Jakarta. (wnd)
