CPC members told to clinch 'decisive victory'

he secretary-general of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Xi Jinping, called on all party cadres to "secure a decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and strive for the great success of socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era."
Xi made the remarks in a report to the 19th CPC National Congress on behalf of the 18th CPC Central Committee in Beijing on Wednesday, as reported in the congress's official website.
Xi said the original aspiration and the mission of Chinese Communists is to seek happiness for the Chinese people and rejuvenate for the nation.

More than 2,200 delegates are attending the week-long event, China's most important political meeting in five years.
The CPC was founded in Shanghai in 1921, during its first congress with only 13 participants and two observers from the Communist International (Comintern) organization.
Now, CPC boasts more than 89 million members with more than 4.5 million grassroots organizations.
Xi also rolled out the Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.
