Former Jakarta governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama regularly exercises in prison to keep in shape, his lawyer says.
Ahok exercises once or twice every day except on Fridays, said lawyer I Wayan Sudirta.
On Fridays, he usually receives visitors from morning to afternoon, he added.
Aside from exercising, Ahok also writes and responds to letters sent to him from his supporters.
"His recent activities are reading, writing letters, writing his ideas and exercising," said Wayan as quoted by kompas.com recently. "He tries to reply all letters sent to him. If you want a reply to your letters, you must include a stamped, self-addressed envelope."
These activities, Wayan said, were what Ahok did to maintain his mental and physical wellbeing.
"He is fine. Mentally, he is getting stronger. He is also calmer and his spiritual state is more mature," he added.
Ahok has been detained since May 9 after the North Jakarta District Court sentenced him to two years in prison for blasphemy. (agn)
