S

tarting Nov. 18, Jakarta residents can lodge complaints at district offices across the city as officials at the district offices have been instructed to serve citizens every Saturday, a top official has announced.

City assistant secretary for governance Bambang Sugiyono said at City Hall on Friday that the complaint section would open for two hours until 10 a.m. He further said district officials would work on the complaints the next day, on Sunday.

“Unsolved problems will be discussed at a leadership meeting [attended by the governor and deputy governor] on Monday,” he said as quoted by kompas.com.

Jakartans had been encouraged since the leadership of former governor Joko “Jokowi” Widodo in 2012 to lodge complaints about the administration’s services to the governor at City Hall in the morning on any weekday.

The practice had continued until incumbent Governor Anies Baswedan took office last month and said he would devise a more effective way for people to submit complaints so that did not have to visit City Hall. (vny)
