A woman victimized by a mob in Cikupa, Tangerang in Banten has been offered a job by a communication company.
The woman was wrongly accused of having premarital sex with her boyfriend at her home and was forced to take off her shirt on Nov. 11. The couple was also physically assaulted.
Kokok Herdhianto Dirgantoro, chief executive officer (CEO) of Opal Communication, made the offer via a post on his Facebook page recently, with the aim of financially helping the orphaned woman.
"Me and my [business] partner are ready to provide an option [for her] to work in our office," he wrote in the post, adding that a residence would be prepared for her, should she feel threatened by continuing to live in her neighborhood.
He said he would also provide any necessary assistance to help her recover from the trauma, including by cooperating with the police and non government organizations.
He said that the move was purely motivated out of a desire to help the woman and that was it was not an attempt to seek attention.
"There has yet to be any progress with the offer because the victim is still undergoing treatment for her trauma. I will tell her about the offer later. Whether she wants to accept or reject it will be solely her decision," he said as quoted by kompas.com.
Six men have been named as suspects for the act of vigilantism. (fac)
