A dispute between neighbors over a parking issue on Wednesday night in Cengkareng, West Jakarta, has ended in a stabbing.
Cengkareng resident M. Suri, 39, was stabbed in the stomach by his neighbor, Firmansyah Abadi, 22.
Cengkareng Police chief Comr. Pol. Agung Budi Leksono said on Friday that Firmansyah had stabbed Suri because he couldn’t accept Suri's warning not to park his motorcycle in a specific location.
“Both the suspect and victim live next to each other. The suspect stabbed the victim in the stomach, because he was irritated by the victim warning him that the motorcycle could block the victim’s way to his house,” Agung said as quoted by tribunnews.com.
Suri was rushed the nearest hospital after the stabbing.
The incident, which happened around 11.30 p.m., began when Firmansyah arrived home from work and parked his motorcycle in front of Suri's house next door. Suri, who had also just arrived home from work, told Firmansyah to move his motorbike and hit the motorcycle's saddle. Firmansyah then got a knife from his kitchen and challenged Suri to a duel.
