nsurance company FWD Life launched on Tuesday a mobile-app called FWD MAX as part of its customer engagement program to further penetrate the Indonesian market.
FWD Life chairman Choo Sin Fook said insurance penetration in Indonesia was lower than in neighboring countries such as Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.
“We would like to increase penetration and financial inclusion in Indonesia. Therefore, we built the app to engage customers,” said Fook.
According to the Financial Services Authority (OJK), life insurance revenue in Indonesia rose by 20 percent year-on-year (yoy) to Rp 139.27 trillion (US$ 10.46 billion) in the third quarter of 2017.
Meanwhile, insurance penetration still stood at 2.99 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP).
Fook said the app was built to create awareness among Indonesians that insurance was a daily part of their lives.
“People are normally involved in their insurance claims when something happens to them, but through the app, we want to engage them,” he said.
The FWD MAX app, which is also targeted to millennials, features promotional offers from more than 70 well-known merchants across 500 outlets to support the customers’ passion and lifestyle needs.
It also enables people to seek protection by using the feature Buy Insurance, from which they will be directed to the company’s website, where they can chat online with insurance agents through the feature Click to Meet.
The app is available for download through App Store for iOS and Play Store for Android. (fny/bbn)
