ater supply in some areas in West and Central Jakarta will be cut off on Friday from 10 p.m. to Saturday at 8 a.m. due to technical maintenance to be conducted by private tap water company PT PAM Lyonnaise Jaya (Palyja) and state electricity company PLN at a water treatment installation in Pejompongan, Central Jakarta.

Palyja spokesperson Lydia Astriningworo said on Wednesday technical maintenance would be held to improve the service of the water company, tempo.co reported.

Lydia went on to encourage all Palyja customers to fill up their water tanks before the supply is cut.

The company has also prepared tanker trucks in public places like hospitals and houses of worship in case of emergency.

Among the affected areas are: Karang Anyar, Kartini, Mangga Dua Selatan, Gambir, Petojo Selatan, Kebon Sirih, and Petamburan in Central Jakarta, and Slipi, Kota Bambu, Jatipulo and Grogol in West Jakarta.

The water supply will be completely cut off in some areas, such as Bendungan Hilir, Cikini, Menteng, Cideng, and Kebon Melati in Central Jakarta, and Pinangsia, Tambora, Roa Malaka and Glodok in West Jakarta. (cal)
