The Jakarta branch of the National Sports Committee (KONI) has some new officials who were involved in controversial cases.
The lawyer of video tampering convict Buni Yani, Aldwin Rahardian, was appointed as the committee’s legal department head. Buni was convicted of editing the video of former Jakarta governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama, which resulted in Ahok being found guilty and sentenced to two years in prison on May 9, 2017, for defaming Islam.
Aldwin is the Indonesian Shooting and Hunting Association (Perbakin) Jakarta branch’s head of organization and legal division.
Also on the committee is Jamran who was sentenced to six months in jail in 2016 along with his brother, Rizal Kobar, for treason. Jamran was the former chairman of North Jakarta KONI.
Novita Dewi, who was the deputy chairman of Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan’s campaign team during the 2017 gubernatorial election, also appears as an official.
“I was appointed to help [KONI],” Novita told kompas.com.
KONI’s Jakarta branch chairman, Djamhuron P Wibowo, said, “We appointed 36 people whom the [KONI] selection committee and I really know well.”
Besides those three names, there is also Gde Sarjana who was appointed as KONI Jakarta’s deputy chairman. Gde is the husband of Sylviana Murni who lost in the first round of the Jakarta gubernatorial election, leaving Anies to compete against Ahok. Gde has been a KONI administrator before.
Anies said the inauguration of the new officials for the 2017 to 2018 period was important to start a new chapter.
