View all search resultshe Jakarta Police narcotics unit is set to summon legendary dangdut singer Elvi Sukaesih, whose daughter, two sons and daughter-in-law were arrested for alleged drug possession.
Dhawiya Saida, Elvi's daughter, was arrested on Feb. 16 together with her elder brothers, Syehan and Ali Zainal Abidin, at her house in Cawang, East Jakarta.
Chauri Gita, Syehan's wife, and Muhammad, Dhawiya's fiancee were also arrested and named suspects.
The police reportedly confiscated three packs of crystal methamphetamine weighing 0.38, 0.45 and 0.49 grams each as well as a drug paraphernalia.
Suwondo Nainggolan, the Jakarta Police narcotics unit director, said Elvi would be summoned on Monday.
"We will ask her if she knew about the drug abuse," Suwondo said on Friday as quoted by kompas.com.
According to Article 131 of Law No. 35/2009 on narcotics, anyone who knows about drug abuse yet does not report it to the police could be punished by up to one year in jail or fined up to Rp 50 million (US$3,500), Suwondo said. (cal)
