The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Cape Town recently introduced Indonesia to 80 students of Daarul Qur’aan Institute, Welcome Estate, Cape Town, South Africa.
Held on March 6, this activity follows up on a series of similar activities, which were held earlier on Dec. 4, 2017 at Cape Town’s Islamia College primary school. The activity started at 10:30 a.m. local time with opening speeches from Muntahaa Ebrahim Kenny, the institute’s principal, and Muhammad Sadri, who is the consul of information and socio-cultural affairs at the consulate general.
This was followed by promotional video screenings of Indonesia from the Tourism Ministry and presentations about Indonesia, such as the location of Indonesia on the world map, the islands in Indonesia, the country’s symbol, cultural diversity and religions, as well as mosques and big cities in Indonesia.
After the presentation, the consulate played a video showing celebrations of Idul Fitri in Indonesia. The consulate also introduced the Indonesian instrument angklung and invited students to learn how to play it.
The consulate closed the event by presenting a plaque to the head of the institute in the hope that the cooperation will be well-maintained in the future.
