T

he Indonesian Antidumping Committee (KADI) has instigated a sunset review of hot rolled plate imports from China, Singapore and Ukraine prior to the expiration of antidumping duties.

KADI chief Ernawati said the investigation, which began on March 5, was conducted as a followup to a request from two local steel plate manufacturers — PT Gunung Raja Paksi and PT Krakatau Posco.

“The initiation of the investigation was based on the request by PT PT Gunung Raja Paksi and PT Krakatau Posco to continue the imposition of the antidumping duties on imported hot rolled plate products,” she said in a statement on Saturday.

Although the steel products from the three countries have been charged with the punitive duties since April 1, 2016, the market shares of the imports have continued to surge.

In 2015, the combined market share of the imports from these countries was only 57 percent. However, the share climbed to 60 percent and 66 percent in 2016 and 2017, respectively. (dpk/lnd)
