ity-owned construction company PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) has said the light rapid transit (LRT) fare is expected to be around Rp 10,000 (73 US cents) without a subsidy from the Jakarta administration.
Jakpro president director Satya Heragandhi said on Tuesday that the fare would be enough to cover the operation of the LRT, as quoted by wartakota.tribunnews.com.
He added, however, that the fare had yet to be determined because Jakpro still needed to communicate with the City Council.
On Friday, two LRT cars from South Korea arrived at Tanjung Priok Port in North Jakarta.
The two are part of the 16 LRT cars that will serve the 5.8-kilometer LRT line connecting Velodrome in Rawamangun, East Jakarta, to Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.
The development of the first LRT line is set to be completed before the commencement of the Asian Games, held from Aug. 18 to Sept. 2.
Meanwhile, Jakpro has been preparing for the development of the second phase of the LRT from Velodrome to Dukuh Atas and Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta.
“We are still trying to find other sources of finance [for the construction] other than the city budget. We will make sure that the process is accountable,” Satya said. (cal)
