A

traveler returning from the Lebaran holidays forgot his father at a rest area on Tuesday, much to the amusement of over 700 Facebook users.

Ivan Hendra, the administrator of the Facebook account for Mins Motorsport, was driving with his father, two brothers and a friend along the Salatiga-Kertosono highway toward Lombok when they stopped at dawn at Masaran Rest Area at KM 519 to pray.

“My dad was asleep in the back,” he wrote on the post. “We stopped by a rest area, finished our prayers and  thinking my dad was still asleep  just left.”

Around 100 kilometers later, Hendra, feeling tired, asked his father to takeover driving duties, only to discover he was missing.

“Where’d he go?” Hendra wrote, “I checked around the car, I checked all the nooks and crannies [...] astagfirullahaladzim [Forgive me God] we left him behind!”

Hendra then found his father’s cellphone, which was left in the car, flooded with missed calls and a text message from a policeman:

“Sir, you left your father at Rest Area KM 519.”

He immediately turned the car around to pick up his father, who had been waiting a total of three and a half hours at the rest area. However, the police had taken good care of him.

“He [my father] didn’t panic but was possibly a bit fed up with me,” Hendra joked as reported by kompas.com.

In a follow-up post, Hendra showed their vehicle was a seven-seater, where all the rear seats were flattened to create a makeshift bed.

He also explained that he could not see the back clearly since the incident happened at dawn but also admits that he should have checked before driving.

“I hope this doesn't happen to other travelers,” Hendra wrote on his post. (nor/dmr)
