Tanjung Priok Port Police criminal investigation chief Adj. Comr. Faruk Rozi said there were no casualties in the incident, which occurred sometime between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m.
“Only one car was damaged,” Faruk said on Thursday, as reported by kompas.com, adding that police believed the perpetrator had used an airsoft gun.
One projectile left a hole in the Chevrolet Spark’s front left window.
A CCTV camera was installed at the site of the shooting, right across from the damaged car, yet security guards apparently did not notice the incident.
A security guard, who refused to reveal his identity, said he was not sure whether the CCTV camera had been turned on when the incident occurred.
He said only a small number of security guards were patrolling the area, without any supervision of the police.
“There are not many of us. The car parking area was deserted during the incident as well,” he said.
The police have set up a crime scene investigation. Port activities in the area proceeded as normal. (ami)
