GIIAS 2018 to showcase 250 automotive industry brands

he Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2018 will showcase around 250 brands of passenger cars, commercial vehicles and other automotive industry products from Aug. 2 to 12 at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) in Tangerang, Banten.

“GIIAS 2018 is for people seeking information on the latest automotive industry [products],” said Association of Indonesian Automotive Manufacturers (Gaikindo) deputy chairman Rizwan Alamsjah, who is also the chairman of this year GIIAS organizing committee, in a statement received by The Jakarta Post on Friday.

This year, he said, GIIAS would introduce various side events and invite visitors to special programs in various areas, like the beyond-mobility area, the demo area and the community area as well as the test drive area.

In the beyond-mobility area and demo area, the organizers would introduce and demonstrate new technology from tenants highlighting three aspects: safety, comfort and performance.

The beyond-mobility area is supported by Audi, BMW, Chevrolet, Daihatsu, Datsun, DFSK, Honda, Hyundai, Isuzu, Lexus, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mini, Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Suzuki, Toyota, VW, and Wuling as well as commercial vehicle brands FAW, Hino, Isuzu, Mitsubishi Fuso, Tata Motors and UD Trucks.

This year, GIIAS 2018 is included in the calendar of events of the Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d’Automobiles (OICA), or the Automotive Manufacturers International Organization, adding to the event’s prominence, Rizwan explained. (bbn)
