World junior 100-meter champion Muhammad Zohri celebrated the Islamic Day of Sacrifice (Idul Adha) in Jakarta instead of his home town of North Lombok.
or world junior 100-meter champion Muhammad Zohri, celebrating the Islamic Day of Sacrifice (Idul Adha) in Jakarta on Wednesday meant he missed yet again the Ied prayer at his home in North Lombok, where quakes had struck earlier this month.
Zohri said he had never turned up for the prayer in the West Nusa Tenggara island of Lombok since he joined the national training program 11 years ago. On Wednesday, he performed the prayer at Al-Bina Mosque inside Senayan Sports Complex.
Zohri has been selected to represent Indonesia in the men’s 100 m and men’s 4x100 m relay team competitions at the 18th Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang. The two races are scheduled for Aug. 25 at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.
“Idul Adha is amazing, but I haven't celebrated the holiday in my hometown since 2007,” Zohri told Antara.
Sorry, Zohri. (amd)
