Indonesia added a silver and a bronze medals from rowing at the Asian Games.
ndonesia has added another silver and bronze to its medal tally after two out of four of its rowing teams emerged as second and third finishers in two different categories in the finals on Thursday at the Jakabaring Rowing Lake in Palembang, South Sumatra.
The silver was contributed by the men's team in the lightweight four category while the bronze by the women’s pair. Competing in the 2-kilometer dash, the men’s lightweight four team touched the finish line in 6 minutes and 31 seconds, just 3 seconds behind the gold winner, China.
“It was a hard-fought game but, thanks to God, we ended the competition by winning a silver,” one of the four Indonesian rowers, Ferdiansyah, told journalists after the medal ceremony.
The other three team members were Ali Buton, Ihram and Ardi Isadi.
Uzbekistan clocked 6 minutes and 38 seconds to claim third place in the men’s lightweight four category.
Meanwhile, the women’s pair, consisting of rower Yayah Rokayah and Julianti, finished 8 minutes and 3 seconds to claim third position and win the bronze medal. The Yayah and Julianti lagged just 3 seconds behind the runner-up, South Korea, which clocked 8 minutes. China touched the finish line in 7 minutes and 55 seconds to claim the gold.
China topped the gold medals tally during Thursday's final, with six of its seven teams in the finals bagging golds.
