A

water crisis has hit 13 villages in Bekasi, West Java, following a prolonged drought, and local residents seeking a water supply have been urged to report to their district administrations.

"For those wanting to get water, please report to the village or district administration," local water company PDAM Tirta Bhagasasi spokesperson Ahmad Fauzi said on Thursday, adding that the district would forward the report to the Bekasi Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), which later would distribute the water.

The 13 villages running out of water were in four districts: Cibarusah, Serang Baru, Bojongmangu and Cikarang Selatan.

"The distribution of clean water is through the BPBD,” Fauzi said, as quoted by kompas.com.

The Bekasi BPBD had distributed clean water to the villages suffering from water crises since mid July, agency head Adeng Hudaya said.

At least 250,000 liters of clean water have been distributed. "We send it at least three times a week,” Adeng said. (stu)
