he Pontianak Library Office has launched a new program named Debar, which is an abridged version of Delivery Buku Antar, a free book delivery service for people with disabilities who live in the capital city of West Kalimantan.
Head librarian head Sintiya Agustini said the program was specifically designed to enable people with disabilities to borrow books without having to come to the library.
She added that the program also aimed to ensure their right to access public service facilities.
“This online book-borrowing service aims to assist people with disabilities to fulfill their reading needs,” Sintiya said on Sunday as quoted by Antara.
The services can be accessed via http://arprusda.pontianakkota.go.id.
After an online order has been placed, staff members from the library will deliver the books to the borrowers.
Sintiya added that the Pontianak Library had 52,000 books, 47 Braille books and 10 audiobooks. (ris/swd)
