he National Population and Family Planning Board (BKKBN) organized a video game development contest in order to deliver health and sexual education in a way that would appeal to teenagers.

“Teenagers are the nation’s future but they are still vulnerable to problems such as dropping out of school, sexual problems, unplanned pregnancy, drug abuse and so on,” BKKBN chairperson Sigit Priohutomo said on Monday, as quoted by Antara. “That is why the BKKBN, through the Planned Generation program, wants to facilitate teenagers in learning, understanding and practicing a healthy and moral lifestyle to achieve teenage resilience.”

He added that teenagers should be taught to be able to better plan their futures.

“Starting from a planned education, planned career, fully planned marriage that corresponds to the reproductive health cycle and a prepared for family life,” he said.

Mobile game developer Educa Studio won the contest with a visual novel game entitled ZEEN - Planned Young Generation, which encourages teenagers to avoid dating and delay marriage until graduating from university.

“[Through this program], we hope that teenagers can be a generation that is reliable, productive, able to use technology well and fills their time with positive activities,” Sigit said. (kmt/swd)
